YUI - My Generation / Understand (New PVs)

Sony is really pushing YUI. Release after release, singles and album, plus a tour, it’s like she never stops.

Her next single, being a Double A-side, already has the two PVs released. I’m sure you can find those on Youtube or other usual sources.

For those who has the video, the BETA verion of the Soft Subtitle set for My Generation is now available below.

Please note that this is BETA in the sense that it is based on a Japanese fan’s transcription from the PV and English translated lyrics have yet been done. I will update the subtitles once the official lyrics and an English translation is available.

The soft subtitles for other YUI’s PVs can be found here:

Japanese film, Infernal Affairs!?

It really ticked me off yesterday while watching the Oscars.

When an award winner is announced and the winner walks from their seat onto the stage, there is a background announcer (perhaps for TV only) that provides some extra info regarding the film and the winner.

As they were announcing the winner of the Best Adapted Screenplay and William Monahan winning for The Departed, the female background announcer said that the film was adapted from a JAPANESE film, Infernal Affairs!!??

WTF!? A JAPANESE film?

Everyone knows that Infernal Affairs is a Hong Kong film.

That was so full of BULL****!!!!

And here you think that it is the Oscars after all and they would be well organized and get all the facts straight.

Did they dig up the info from Rotten Tomatoes’ Infernal Affairs 2’s about page??

Even the IMDB site had the Country origin being Hong Kong.

They better apologize to the Hong Kong people and the Hong Kong cinema for their mistake.

It seems these background announcement was for TV only. William Monahan was oblivious to the mistake and did not correct it on stage. But at least when Martin Scorsese won Best Director, he did mention his appreciation for the Hong Kong film.

YUI - CHE.R.RY (New PV)

After releasing the single, Rolling Star, YUI is going to release another new single, CHE.R.RY, next month. And of course, the PV came out yesterday to begin the CHE.R.RY promo.

I was gonna link a Youtube video here, but lately they have been receiving pressure from the Japanese entertainment industry to remove most of the copyrighted contents like PVs and Shows. Instead of embedding the video, I’ll provide a search link which currently does turn up a number of videos of the PV.

For those who have download the actual video, here the download to the Soft Subtitle set:

UPDATED - 2007-03-09
The Lismo! Version DVD Rip has the same timing as the M-ON version. If you have downloaded the M-ON version of the subs, you don’t need to download it again.

ACI Connection from a Forum

As some of you already know, my current JPop it-girl is the cute, lovely and talented YUI. Ever since watching Taiyou no Uta (タイヨウのうた - A Song to the Sun, aka The Midnight Sun) movie, in which she starred, last December, I was completely drawn to her music.

Since then, I’ve spent a lot of my time lurking around YUI-Lover, the first English forum site dedicated to YUI’s music. It is quite a unique forum and has the one of the most friendly member groups.

One particular member, iron_turkey, has a connection to me that I never thought I would find in a relatively small forum like this.

“So what if he’s also from Toronto. Lots of people live in the city.” That is true. But I never would have imagine that he’s now going to the same high school, ACI, that I went to 9 years ago. He also went to the same junior high, SAM, as well. Boy, do I sound old now.

Bad Luck Birth-Day Week

Birthdays come once a year. I tend not to think of it as anything special, especially since my birthday usually falls during the trade show that my parents do. This year is no exception, as my birthday is on the show’s closing date, which means I have to help pack up the booth.

However, that was the least of my worries. Though nothing bad really happened to me, people who are close to me are taking the full brunt of some unfortunate, yet fortunate events.
